A Horse is a Horse of Course

Last time we went to the Lake we were lucky to be invited to the barn to visit the new kittens. Buga LOVES kittens (but her Daddy definitely does NOT). Anyway, whilewe were there we got to visit with a beautiful horse (Buga's FAVORITE animal). He is such an amazing animal...I was awestruck and scared of him at the same time - - because he was enormous...and I had an infant attached to me and a three-year-old to keep on eye on. But, wow. Stunning.

And here are some of the other animals we got to see.

That is our cousin - he learned how to ride on this farm...someday he wants to be a large animal veterinarian. He was so good with them!

So simple a project I am sure everyone has seen, but it was suiting with our live caterpillars we are watching mature. So we make "caterpillars" out of egg cartons. I love how intense Buga looks as she paints her little guy.

Feeding the Ducks

Such a simple past time. I remember saving bits and pieces of bread...crusty, old, moldy, new, it didn't matter, to feed the ducks. I don't know what makes this activity so appealing or peaceful, but they have always been both for me. Here Buga enjoys the same simple pleasures in life with her older cousin on a beautiful Summer July day.

Beach in a Peach

I am always trying to come up with ways Buga can help me in the kitchen. She loves cooking - and eating - and I find that when she participates in cooking, she is more likely to eat our creations. It's a great way to teach beginning food Science, and Math while having fun and seeing something tangible in return. I found this little "recipe" and knew I wanted to use it for our Summer time lessons. It's a Beach in a Peach.

Peach half (we used fresh because they are in season!)
Graham Crackers
Umbrella toothpick

1. Crush the Graham Crackers in a ziploc bag

2. Scoop yogurt into the peach half

3. Sprinkle Graham Cracker Crumbs on top of the yogurt

4. Finishing Touch - Insert umbrella toothpick

Rainbow Love-y

I finally had time to make a new product and post it in the Shop. Life has been so busy lately I haven't had time, but I love when I get to tinker in the shop. I have made several new things for baby the past few months, but haven't added them to the shop, so this really makes me happy!

And what an adorable model she is!

Our caterpillars formed Chrysalides in their Pupal stage of development.

They stay in this stage for 7-10 days, growing wings, before they emerge as butterflies.
