Buga is only 3 (well, 3 and a half)...but she has always shown an interest in numbers. She can count pretty well, and can identify all one-digit numbers. Lately she has been reading the clock...but saying each digit instead of the bigger numbers. So she will tell me: "It's 1. 1. 6." Instead of one sixteen. I decided we had better work on the names of the bigger numbers - - she can count much higher and says them, but can't yet identify them. I decided to write numbers on little pumpkins for the autumn season and make a "number line" using the pumpkins. She really liked playing this game....hopefully it will help her begin to identify names of numbers that have more than one digit. I will be doing this again in the winter time with something like snowflakes, gingerbread men, or candy canes, I think.
